Privacy policy

Lettzio is a marketplace that helps tenants in Pakistan find homes, rooms, hostels and short stays, and helps property owners list them. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Lettzio website and the Lettzio mobile apps (together, "Lettzio"), why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using Lettzio you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Lettzio.

Who we are

Lettzio ("we", "us", "our") operates the Lettzio website and apps. For any privacy question or request, contact us at lettziosupport@gmail.com.

Information you give us

Account details

Your name, email address and password when you sign up. Passwords are stored only in a securely hashed form; we can never see them.
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
Optional profile details you add, such as a phone number, a short bio and a profile photo.
Whether you use Lettzio as a tenant, an owner or both.

Listings (owners)

Property details: title, description, type, rental period, price, deposit, rooms, amenities, photos and availability.
The property location: city, area and street address. Your exact street address is stored separately from the public listing. Tenants see only the area and city unless you choose to share more in a conversation.

Identity verification (owners)

To keep the marketplace safe, owners may be asked to verify their identity. We collect your full name as shown on your CNIC, your CNIC number, photos of the front and back of your CNIC and a selfie. These files are kept in private storage that is not publicly reachable, and they are viewed only by our verification team.

Messages and attachments

Messages you send to other members, and any photos or documents you attach (such as PDF, Word, Excel or PowerPoint files), are stored so both people in the conversation can read them.

Payments

When you buy a plan or a listing pass, we keep a record of the order: the plan, the amount, the payment method you chose, the payment reference and any proof of payment you upload. We do not collect or store your card number or your bank or wallet login details. Payments are made directly to the account shown at checkout.

Reviews, reports and support

Reviews you write, listings or members you report, and the messages and files you send to our support team.

City alerts and saved places

Cities you follow for alerts about new places, and the listings you save.

Information collected automatically

Approximate location. If you allow it, the app uses your approximate (coarse) location once to suggest the nearest city. We do not track your location in the background and we do not store your precise position. You can turn this off at any time in your phone settings.
Device and usage data. Like most online services, our hosting providers record technical information such as your IP address, browser or device type, operating system, app version, pages requested and the date and time of requests. This is used to keep Lettzio running, secure and free of abuse.
Notifications. If you allow notifications, the app shows alerts about messages and updates on your phone.
Cookies and local storage. The website uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and secure. It also remembers small preferences, such as the city you chose, in your browser's local storage. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell your data to advertisers.

Phone permissions

The app asks for permission only when a feature needs it:

Camera and photos: to add listing photos, a profile photo, identity documents or chat attachments.
Files: to attach documents in a chat or a support request.
Approximate location: to suggest your nearest city.
Notifications: to tell you about new messages and updates.

You can refuse or withdraw any permission in your phone settings. Some features will not work without it.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

create and secure your account, including verifying your email address with a code;
show your listings to tenants and help tenants contact owners;
deliver messages, notifications, city alerts and emails about your account;
verify owners' identities and review listings before they are published;
process plans, listing passes and payments, and keep financial records;
provide customer support and respond to reports;
detect, investigate and prevent fraud, scams, spam and other harmful activity, and enforce our Terms;
improve and fix Lettzio; and
meet our legal obligations.

What other people can see

Public listing pages show the property details and photos, the area and city, the owner's first name or display name and profile photo, verification status and reviews.
Reviews show your name with the review.
Messages are visible only to the tenant and owner in the conversation. Our team may review a conversation when investigating a report, a safety concern or a breach of our Terms.
Your email address, phone number, street address and identity documents are never shown publicly.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

With other members, as described above, when you list a property, send a message or write a review.
With service providers who host and run Lettzio for us under contracts that protect your data: Supabase (database, sign-in and private file storage), Cloudflare R2 (storage for listing photos and files), Vercel (website hosting), Google (Google sign-in) and our email provider (sending verification codes and account emails). Some of these providers store data on servers outside Pakistan.
For legal reasons, when we believe in good faith that the law, a court order or a government authority requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Lettzio, our members or the public.
In a business transfer, if Lettzio is merged, sold or reorganised, your information may be transferred as part of that deal, and this policy will continue to apply to it.

How long we keep information

Account and profile details for as long as your account is open.
Listings, messages and reviews for as long as your account is open, so the conversations and history stay available to the other member.
Identity verification files for as long as they are needed to keep your verification status, and for a limited time afterwards where required to handle disputes or meet legal obligations.
Order and payment records for as long as the law requires us to keep financial records.
Email verification codes expire within minutes and are deleted.
Records of admin actions are kept for a short period (currently 15 days) for security.

When you close your account we delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we must keep some of it to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or enforce our Terms.

Keeping your information safe

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) everywhere, hashed passwords, private storage for identity documents and chat files, and database rules that limit each member to their own data. Access by our team is limited to people who need it for their role, and admin actions are logged. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and never share it.

Your choices and rights

You can:

see and update your profile details at any time in your account;
download a copy of your information by contacting us;
correct information that is wrong;
delete your listings, and close your account by contacting us at lettziosupport@gmail.com from the email address on your account (we may ask you to confirm it is you);
turn off notifications, location or camera access in your phone settings; and
unfollow city alerts in the app or on the website.

We will respond to requests within 30 days.

Children

Lettzio is meant for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

Lettzio may link to other websites and apps, such as maps or payment providers. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make important changes, we will tell you in the app, on the website or by email before they apply.
